Today’s Adventure: Georgia Bird Watching
Ok, I know that yesterday’s post mentioned a lot of sporting activities, so today I am going to focus on some leisure ones. First on our road trip is the Colonial Coast Birding Trail. This trail runs from Savannah to St. Mary’s Georgia on the coast, and over into the Okefenokee Swamp inland in southern
Folkston, Georgia.
Along the Colonial Coast Birding Trail, you will see over 300 species of birds, both land and sea bound including: pelicans, loons, herons, egrets, osprey, storks, gulls, terns, woodpeckers, hawks, sandpipers, sparrows, and warblers to name a few. When you visit some of these destinations, a good choice for stopping is one of
Georgia’s State Parks. Here, bird viewing areas are often hosted on a historic location which offers other interpretative activities. The trail runs along the border and turns into the Great Florida Birding Trail which we will explore at another time.
